# §4204. Technical assistance


The [Secretary](/usc/7/499a.md?p=b-2) is encouraged to provide technical assistance to any [State](/usc/7/198.md?p=5) or unit of local government, or any nonprofit organization, as determined by the [Secretary](/usc/7/499a.md?p=b-2), that desires to develop programs or policies to limit the conversion of productive farmland to nonagricultural uses.
