# §2229. Travel and per diem expenses of temporary or seasonal employees


Under such regulations as may be prescribed by the [Secretary](/usc/7/499a.md?p=b-2) of Agriculture, funds available to the Department of Agriculture may be used for the payment of transportation expenses and per diem in lieu of subsistence expenses, in accordance with subchapter I of [chapter 57](/usc/5/chptIII/sptD/ch57.md) of title 5, for travel between places of recruitment and duty, and while at places of duty, of [persons](/usc/7/499a.md?p=b-1) appointed for temporary or seasonal services in inspection, classing or grading agricultural commodities.
