# §725. Prepositioned equipment program

- (a) **In general—** The [Administrator](/usc/6/821.md?p=1) shall establish a prepositioned equipment program to preposition standardized [emergency](/usc/6/701.md?p=6) equipment in at least 11 locations to sustain and replenish critical [assets](/usc/6/101.md?p=3) used by [State](/usc/6/821.md?p=9), local, and [tribal governments](/usc/6/701.md?p=16) in response to (or rendered inoperable by the effects of) natural disasters, acts of [terrorism](/usc/6/101.md?p=18), and other man-made disasters.
- (b) **Notice—** The [Administrator](/usc/6/821.md?p=1) shall notify [State](/usc/6/821.md?p=9), local, and tribal officials in an area in which a location for the prepositioned equipment program will be closed not later than 60 days before the date of such closure.
