# §557. Reference


With respect to any function transferred by or under this chapter (including under a reorganization plan that becomes effective under [section 542 of this title](/usc/6/542.md)) and exercised on or after the effective date of this chapter, reference in any other Federal law to any [department](/usc/6/101.md?p=5), commission, or [agency](/usc/6/671.md?p=1) or any officer or office the [functions](/usc/6/101.md?p=9) of which are so transferred shall be deemed to refer to the [Secretary](/usc/6/101.md?p=16), other official, or component of the [Department](/usc/6/101.md?p=5) to which such function is so transferred.
