# §555. Continuity of Inspector General oversight


Notwithstanding the transfer of an [agency](/usc/6/671.md?p=1) to the [Department](/usc/6/101.md?p=5) pursuant to this chapter, the Inspector General that exercised oversight of such [agency](/usc/6/671.md?p=1) prior to such transfer shall continue to exercise oversight of such [agency](/usc/6/671.md?p=1) during the period of time, if any, between the transfer of such [agency](/usc/6/671.md?p=1) to the [Department](/usc/6/101.md?p=5) pursuant to this chapter and the appointment of the Inspector General of the [Department](/usc/6/101.md?p=5) of [Homeland](/usc/6/101.md?p=1) Security in accordance with [section 113(b) of this title](/usc/6/113.md?p=b).
