# §496. Relation to the National Security Council


The President may convene joint meetings of the [Homeland](/usc/6/101.md?p=1) Security [Council](/usc/6/681.md?p=2) and the National Security [Council](/usc/6/681.md?p=2) with participation by members of either [Council](/usc/6/681.md?p=2) or as the President may otherwise direct.
