# §312. Definition


In this subchapter, the term “Nuclear [Incident](/usc/6/677a.md?p=6) Response Team” means a resource that includes—

- (1) those [entities](/usc/6/301c.md?p=2) of the [Department](/usc/6/101.md?p=5) of Energy that perform nuclear or radiological [emergency](/usc/6/701.md?p=6) support [functions](/usc/6/101.md?p=9) (including accident response, search response, advisory, and technical operations [functions](/usc/6/101.md?p=9)), radiation exposure [functions](/usc/6/101.md?p=9) at the medical assistance facility known as the Radiation [Emergency](/usc/6/701.md?p=6) Assistance [Center](/usc/6/681.md?p=1)/Training Site (REAC/TS), radiological assistance [functions](/usc/6/101.md?p=9), and related [functions](/usc/6/101.md?p=9); and
- (2) those [entities](/usc/6/301c.md?p=2) of the Environmental Protection [Agency](/usc/6/311.md?p=2) that perform such support [functions](/usc/6/101.md?p=9) (including radiological [emergency](/usc/6/701.md?p=6) response [functions](/usc/6/101.md?p=9)) and related [functions](/usc/6/101.md?p=9).
