# §124f. Intelligence training development for State and local government officials

- (a) **Curriculum—** The [Secretary](/usc/6/101.md?p=16), acting through the Under [Secretary](/usc/6/101.md?p=16) for Intelligence and Analysis, shall—
  - (1) develop a curriculum for training [State](/usc/6/101.md?p=17), local, and [tribal government](/usc/6/701.md?p=16) officials, including law enforcement officers, intelligence analysts, and other [emergency response providers](/usc/6/101.md?p=6), in the intelligence cycle and Federal laws, practices, and regulations regarding the development, handling, and review of intelligence and other information; and
  - (2) ensure that the curriculum includes executive level training for senior level [State](/usc/6/101.md?p=17), local, and tribal law enforcement officers, intelligence analysts, and other [emergency response providers](/usc/6/101.md?p=6).
- (b) **Training—** To the extent possible, the Federal Law Enforcement Training [Center](/usc/6/681.md?p=1) and other existing [Federal entities](/usc/6/681.md?p=7) with the capacity and expertise to train [State](/usc/6/101.md?p=17), local, and [tribal government](/usc/6/701.md?p=16) officials based on the curriculum developed under [subsection (a)](#a) shall be used to carry out the training programs created under this section. If such [entities](/usc/6/301c.md?p=2) do not have the capacity, resources, or capabilities to conduct such training, the [Secretary](/usc/6/101.md?p=16) may approve another [entity](/usc/6/301c.md?p=2) to conduct such training.
- (c) **Consultation—** In carrying out the duties described in [subsection (a)](#a), the Under [Secretary](/usc/6/101.md?p=16) for Intelligence and Analysis shall consult with the [Director](/usc/6/677a.md?p=3) of the Federal Law Enforcement Training [Center](/usc/6/681.md?p=1), the Attorney General, the [Director](/usc/6/677a.md?p=3) of National Intelligence, the [Administrator](/usc/6/701.md?p=1) of the Federal [Emergency Management](/usc/6/701.md?p=7) [Agency](/usc/6/671.md?p=1), and other appropriate parties, such as private industry, institutions of higher education, nonprofit institutions, and other intelligence [agencies](/usc/6/671.md?p=1) of the Federal Government.
