# §308104. Battlefield interpretation modernization grant program

- (a) **Establishment.—** The [Secretary](/usc/54/308101.md?p=1) shall establish a battlefield interpretation modernization grant [program](/usc/54/308601.md?p=3) under which the [Secretary](/usc/54/308101.md?p=1) may provide competitive grants to States, Tribes, local governments, and nonprofit organizations for projects and [programs](/usc/54/308601.md?p=3) that deploy technology to modernize battlefield interpretation and education.
- (b) **Eligible Sites.—** The [Secretary](/usc/54/308101.md?p=1) may make grants under this section for Revolutionary War, War of 1812, and Civil War battlefield sites eligible for assistance under the battlefield acquisition grant [program](/usc/54/308601.md?p=3) established under [section 308103(b)](/usc/54/308103.md?p=b).
- (c) **Federal Share.—** The Federal share of the cost of a project or [program](/usc/54/308601.md?p=3) funded through a grant provided under the [program](/usc/54/308601.md?p=3) established under [subsection (a)](#a) shall be not more than 50 percent of the total cost of the applicable project or [program](/usc/54/308601.md?p=3).
- (d) **Authorization of Appropriations.—** There is authorized to be appropriated to the [Secretary](/usc/54/308101.md?p=1) to provide grants under this section $1,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2020 through 2028.
