# §305503. Activities and functions


The National Building Museum shall—

- (1) collect and disseminate information concerning the [building arts](/usc/54/305501.md?p=1), including the establishment of a national reference [center](/usc/54/305301.md?p=2) for current and [historic](/usc/54/308601.md?p=2) documents, publications, and research relating to the [building arts](/usc/54/305501.md?p=1);
- (2) foster educational [programs](/usc/54/308601.md?p=3) relating to the history, practice, and contribution to society of the [building arts](/usc/54/305501.md?p=1), including promotion of imaginative educational approaches to enhance understanding and appreciation of all facets of the [building arts](/usc/54/305501.md?p=1);
- (3) publicly display temporary and permanent exhibits illustrating, interpreting and demonstrating the [building arts](/usc/54/305501.md?p=1);
- (4) sponsor or conduct research and study into the history of the [building arts](/usc/54/305501.md?p=1) and their role in shaping our civilization; and
- (5) encourage contributions to the [building arts](/usc/54/305501.md?p=1).
