# §20509. Designation of chief State election official


Each [State](/usc/52/20107.md?p=5) shall designate a [State](/usc/52/20107.md?p=5) officer or employee as the chief [State](/usc/52/20107.md?p=5) [election](/usc/52/20502.md?p=1) official to be responsible for coordination of [State](/usc/52/20107.md?p=5) responsibilities under this chapter.
