# §50916. Disclosing information


The [Secretary](/usc/51/50301.md?p=5) of Transportation, an officer or employee of the [United States](/usc/51/50501.md?p=14) Government, or a [person](/usc/51/50902.md?p=15) making a contract with the [Secretary](/usc/51/50301.md?p=5) under [section 50907(b) of this title](/usc/51/50907.md?p=b) may disclose information under this chapter that qualifies for an exemption under [section 552(b)(4) of title 5](/usc/5/552.md?p=b-4) or is designated as confidential by the [person](/usc/51/50902.md?p=15) or head of the executive [agency](/usc/51/50501.md?p=1) providing the information only if the [Secretary](/usc/51/50301.md?p=5) decides withholding the information is contrary to the public or national interest.
