# §4234. Appointment of Administrator


As soon as practicable after August 10, 1988, the [Secretary](/usc/50/4232.md?p=6) shall offer to undertake negotiations with the [Association](/usc/50/4232.md?p=3), leading to the execution of an agreement with the [Association](/usc/50/4232.md?p=3) to serve as [Administrator](/usc/50/4232.md?p=1) under this subchapter. The [Secretary](/usc/50/4232.md?p=6) may appoint the [Association](/usc/50/4232.md?p=3) as [Administrator](/usc/50/4232.md?p=1) if such agreement is reached within 90 days after August 10, 1988. If no such agreement is reached within such period, the [Secretary](/usc/50/4232.md?p=6) shall appoint another person as [Administrator](/usc/50/4232.md?p=1) under this subchapter, after consultation with leaders of [affected Aleut villages](/usc/50/4232.md?p=2) and the [Corporation](/usc/50/4232.md?p=4).
