# §3124. Extraterritorial jurisdiction


There is jurisdiction over an offense under [section 3121 of this title](/usc/50/3121.md) committed outside the [United States](/usc/50/3126.md?p=9) if the individual committing the offense is a citizen of the [United States](/usc/50/3126.md?p=9) or an alien lawfully admitted to the [United States](/usc/50/3126.md?p=9) for permanent residence (as defined in [section 1101(a)(20) of title 8](/usc/8/1101.md?p=a-20)).
