# §8523. Dissemination of information

- (a) When designated by the [Secretary](/usc/5/9901.md?p=2) of Labor, an [agency](/usc/5/3132.md?p=a-1) of the [United States](/usc/5/7103.md?p=a-18) shall make available to the appropriate [State](/usc/5/8501.md?p=6) [agency](/usc/5/3132.md?p=a-1) or to the [Secretary](/usc/5/9901.md?p=2), as the case may be, such information, including findings in the form and manner prescribed by regulations of the [Secretary](/usc/5/9901.md?p=2), as the [Secretary](/usc/5/9901.md?p=2) considers practicable and necessary for the determination of the entitlement of an individual to [compensation](/usc/5/8501.md?p=4) under this subchapter.
- (b) Subject to correction of errors and omissions as prescribed by regulations of the [Secretary](/usc/5/9901.md?p=2), the following are final and conclusive for the purpose of sections [8502(d)](/usc/5/8502.md?p=d) and [8503(c)](/usc/5/8503.md) of this title:
  - (1) Findings by an [agency](/usc/5/3132.md?p=a-1) of the [United States](/usc/5/7103.md?p=a-18) made in accordance with [subsection (a)](#a) of this section with respect to—
    - (A) whether or not an individual has met any condition specified by [section 8521(a)(1) of this title](/usc/5/8521.md?p=a-1);
    - (B) the periods of [Federal service](/usc/5/8501.md?p=1); and
    - (C) the [pay](/usc/5/7511.md?p=a-4) [grade](/usc/5/5102.md?p=a-5) of the individual at the time of his latest discharge or release from [Federal service](/usc/5/8501.md?p=1).
  - (2) The schedules of [pay](/usc/5/7511.md?p=a-4) and allowances prescribed by the [Secretary](/usc/5/9901.md?p=2) under [section 8521(a)(2) of this title](/usc/5/8521.md?p=a-2).
