  - (3) an unmarried [child](/usc/5/8101.md?p=9), while living with the [employee](/usc/5/8101.md?p=1) or receiving regular contributions from the [employee](/usc/5/8101.md?p=1) toward his support, and who is—

Notwithstanding paragraph (3) of this subsection, [compensation](/usc/5/8101.md?p=12) payable for a [child](/usc/5/8101.md?p=9) that would otherwise end because the [child](/usc/5/8101.md?p=9) has reached 18 years of age shall continue if he is a [student](/usc/5/8101.md?p=17) as defined by [section 8101 of this title](/usc/5/8101.md) at the time he reaches 18 years of age for so long as he continues to be such a [student](/usc/5/8101.md?p=17) or until he marries.
