# §6505. Telework Managing Officer

- (a) **Designation.—** The head of each [executive agency](/usc/5/6501.md?p=2) shall designate an [employee](/usc/5/4701.md?p=a-2) of the [agency](/usc/5/3132.md?p=a-1) as the [Telework](/usc/5/6501.md?p=3) Managing Officer. The [Telework](/usc/5/6501.md?p=3) Managing Officer shall be established within the [Office](/usc/5/5402.md?p=3) of the Chief Human Capital Officer or a comparable [office](/usc/5/5402.md?p=3) with similar functions.
- (b) **Duties.—** The [Telework](/usc/5/6501.md?p=3) Managing Officer shall—
  - (1) be devoted to policy development and implementation related to [agency](/usc/5/3132.md?p=a-1) [telework](/usc/5/6501.md?p=3) programs;
  - (2) serve as—
    - (A) an advisor for [agency](/usc/5/3132.md?p=a-1) leadership, including the Chief Human Capital Officer;
    - (B) a resource for managers and [employees](/usc/5/4701.md?p=a-2); and
    - (C) a primary [agency](/usc/5/3132.md?p=a-1) point of contact for the [Office](/usc/5/5402.md?p=3) of Personnel Management on [telework](/usc/5/6501.md?p=3) matters; and
  - (3) perform other duties as the applicable delegating [authority](/usc/5/7103.md?p=a-6) may assign.
- (c) **Status Within Agency.—** The [Telework](/usc/5/6501.md?p=3) Managing Officer of an [agency](/usc/5/3132.md?p=a-1) shall be a senior official of the [agency](/usc/5/3132.md?p=a-1) who has direct access to the head of the [agency](/usc/5/3132.md?p=a-1).
- (d) **Rule of Construction Regarding Status of Telework Managing Officer.—** Nothing in this section shall be construed to prohibit an individual who holds another [office](/usc/5/5402.md?p=3) or [position](/usc/5/5102.md?p=a-3) in an [agency](/usc/5/3132.md?p=a-1) from serving as the [Telework](/usc/5/6501.md?p=3) Managing Officer for the [agency](/usc/5/3132.md?p=a-1) under this chapter.
