# §6386. Health insurance


An [employee](/usc/5/6381.md?p=1) enrolled in a [health benefits plan](/usc/5/8901.md?p=6) under [chapter 89](/usc/5/chptIII/sptG/ch89.md) who is placed in a leave status under [section 6382](/usc/5/6382.md) may elect to continue the health benefits enrollment of the [employee](/usc/5/6381.md?p=1) while in such leave status and arrange to [pay](/usc/5/7511.md?p=a-4) currently into the [Employees](/usc/5/6381.md?p=1) Health Benefits [Fund](/usc/5/8401.md?p=6) (described in [section 8909](/usc/5/8909.md)), the appropriate [employee](/usc/5/6381.md?p=1) contributions.
