# §5735. Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses of employees transferring to the United States Postal Service

- (a) **In General.—** Notwithstanding any other provision of law, [employees](/usc/5/5701.md?p=2) of the [Department](/usc/5/10101.md?p=4) of Defense described in [subsection (b)](#b) may be authorized travel, transportation, and relocation expenses and allowances in connection with appointments referred to in such subsection under the same conditions and to the same extent authorized by this subchapter for transferred [employees](/usc/5/5701.md?p=2).
- (b) **Covered Employees.—** [Subsection (a)](#a) applies to any [employee](/usc/5/5701.md?p=2) of the [Department](/usc/5/10101.md?p=4) of Defense who—
  - (1) is scheduled for separation from the [Department](/usc/5/10101.md?p=4), other than for cause;
  - (2) is selected for appointment to a continuing [position](/usc/5/5102.md?p=a-3) with the [United States](/usc/5/5721.md?p=6) Postal [Service](/usc/5/8401.md?p=26); and
  - (3) accepts the appointment.
