# §5508. Officer entitled to leave; effect on pay status


An officer in the executive branch and an officer of the [government](/usc/5/4101.md?p=3) of the District of Columbia to whom subchapter I of [chapter 63](/usc/5/chptIII/sptE/ch63.md) of this title applies are not entitled to the [pay](/usc/5/7511.md?p=a-4) of their [offices](/usc/5/5402.md?p=3) solely because of their status as officers.
