# §47530. Nonapplication of sections 47528(a)–(d) and 47529 to aircraft outside the 48 contiguous States


[Sections 47528(a)](/usc/49/47528.md?p=a)–(d) and [47529](/usc/49/47529.md) of this title do not apply to [aircraft](/usc/49/40102.md?p=a-6) used only to provide [air transportation](/usc/49/40102.md?p=a-5) outside the 48 contiguous States. A civil subsonic turbojet [aircraft](/usc/49/40102.md?p=a-6) with a maximum weight of more than 75,000 pounds that is imported into a noncontiguous State or a territory or possession of the [United States](/usc/49/40102.md?p=a-46) after November 4, 1990, may be used to provide [air transportation](/usc/49/40102.md?p=a-5) in the 48 contiguous States only if the [aircraft](/usc/49/40102.md?p=a-6) complies with the [stage 3 noise levels](/usc/49/47522.md?p=2).
