# §44739. Pets on airplanes

- (a) **Prohibition.—** It shall be unlawful for any person to place a live animal in an overhead storage compartment of an [aircraft](/usc/49/40102.md?p=a-6) operated under part 121 of title 14, Code of Federal Regulations.
- (b) **Civil Penalty.—** The Administrator may impose a civil penalty under [section 46301](/usc/49/46301.md) for each violation of this section.
