# §41761. Purpose


The purpose of this subchapter is to improve service by jet [aircraft](/usc/49/40102.md?p=a-6) to [underserved markets](/usc/49/41762.md?p=14) by providing assistance, in the form of [Federal credit instruments](/usc/49/41762.md?p=5), to [commuter air carriers](/usc/49/41762.md?p=4) that purchase [regional jet aircraft](/usc/49/41762.md?p=12) for use in serving those markets.
