# §15721. Definitions


In this subchapter, the following definitions apply:

- (1) **Carrier, lessor.—** The terms “carrier” and “lessor” include a receiver or trustee of a [pipeline carrier](/usc/49/15102.md?p=2) and lessor, respectively.
- (2) **Lessor.—** The term “[lessor](#1)” means a [person](/usc/49/13102.md?p=18) owning a pipeline that is leased to and operated by a [carrier](#1) providing [transportation](/usc/49/10102.md?p=9) under this part.
- (3) **Association.—** The term “association” means an organization maintained by or in the interest of a group of [pipeline carriers](/usc/49/15102.md?p=2) that performs a service, or engages in activities, related to [transportation](/usc/49/10102.md?p=9) under this part.
