# §10910. Effect on other statutes and authorities


Nothing in section [10908](/usc/49/10908.md) or [10909](/usc/49/10909.md) is intended to affect the traditional police powers of the [State](/usc/49/10102.md?p=8) to require a [rail carrier](/usc/49/10102.md?p=5) to comply with [State](/usc/49/10102.md?p=8) and local environmental, public health, and public safety standards that are not unreasonably burdensome to interstate commerce and do not discriminate against [rail carriers](/usc/49/10102.md?p=5).
