# §10702. Authority for rail carriers to establish rates, classifications, rules, and practices


A [rail carrier](/usc/49/10102.md?p=5) providing [transportation](/usc/49/10102.md?p=9) or service subject to the jurisdiction of the [Board](/usc/49/10102.md?p=1) under this part shall establish reasonable—

- (1) [rates](/usc/49/10102.md?p=7), to the extent required by [section 10707](/usc/49/10707.md), divisions of joint [rates](/usc/49/10102.md?p=7), and classifications for [transportation](/usc/49/10102.md?p=9) and service it may provide under this part; and
- (2) rules and practices on matters related to that [transportation](/usc/49/10102.md?p=9) or service.
