# §323. Interference between Government and commercial stations

- (a) At all places where Government and private or commercial [radio stations](/usc/47/153.md?p=42) on land operate in such close proximity that interference with the work of Government [stations](/usc/47/153.md?p=42) cannot be avoided when they are operating simultaneously, such private or commercial [stations](/usc/47/153.md?p=42) as do interfere with the transmission or reception of [radio communications](/usc/47/153.md?p=40) or signals by the Government [stations](/usc/47/153.md?p=42) concerned shall not use their transmitters during the first fifteen minutes of each hour, local standard time.
- (b) The Government [stations](/usc/47/153.md?p=42) for which the above-mentioned division of time is established shall transmit [radio communications](/usc/47/153.md?p=40) or signals only during the first fifteen minutes of each hour, local standard time, except in case of signals or [radio communications](/usc/47/153.md?p=40) relating to [vessels](/usc/47/153.md?p=46-A) in distress and [vessel](/usc/47/153.md?p=46-A) requests for information as to course, location, or compass direction.
