# §322. Exchanging radio communications between land and ship stations and from ship to ship


Every [land station](/usc/47/153.md?p=29) open to general public service between the coast and [vessels](/usc/47/153.md?p=46-A) or aircraft at sea shall, within the scope of its normal operations, be bound to exchange [radio communications](/usc/47/153.md?p=40) or signals with any [ship](/usc/47/153.md?p=46-A) or aircraft [station](/usc/47/153.md?p=42) at sea; and each [station](/usc/47/153.md?p=42) on shipboard or aircraft at sea shall, within the scope of its normal operations, be bound to exchange [radio communications](/usc/47/153.md?p=40) or signals with any other [station](/usc/47/153.md?p=42) on shipboard or aircraft at sea or with any [land station](/usc/47/153.md?p=29) open to general public service between the coast and [vessels](/usc/47/153.md?p=46-A) or aircraft at sea: Provided, That such exchange of [radio communication](/usc/47/153.md?p=40) shall be without distinction as to radio systems or instruments adopted by each [station](/usc/47/153.md?p=42).
