# §10320. Records of seamen


The [Secretary](/usc/46/2101.md?p=46) shall prescribe regulations requiring vessel [owners](/usc/46/10101.md?p=2) to maintain records of seamen on matters of engagement, discharge, and service. A vessel [owner](/usc/46/10101.md?p=2) shall make these records available to the [seaman](/usc/46/10101.md?p=3) and the [Coast Guard](/usc/46/2101.md?p=2) on request.
