# §54a. Certain Federal and State regulations deemed statutory authority


A regulation, standard, or requirement in force, or prescribed by the [Secretary](/usc/45/1104.md?p=7) of Transportation under [chapter 201](/usc/49/chstV/ptA/ch201.md) of title 49 or by a State agency that is participating in investigative and surveillance activities under [section 20105 of title 49](/usc/49/20105.md), is deemed to be a statute under sections [53](/usc/45/53.md) and [54](/usc/45/54.md) of this title.
