# §3517. Consultation with other agencies and the public

- (a) In developing [information resources management](/usc/44/3502.md?p=7) policies, plans, rules, regulations, procedures, and guidelines and in reviewing collections of information, the [Director](/usc/44/3502.md?p=4) shall provide interested [agencies](/usc/44/3502.md?p=1) and [persons](/usc/44/3502.md?p=10) early and meaningful opportunity to comment.
- (b) Any [person](/usc/44/3502.md?p=10) may request the [Director](/usc/44/3502.md?p=4) to review any [collection of information](/usc/44/3502.md?p=3) conducted by or for an [agency](/usc/44/3502.md?p=1) to determine, if, under this subchapter, a [person](/usc/44/3502.md?p=10) shall maintain, provide, or disclose the information to or for the [agency](/usc/44/3502.md?p=1). Unless the request is frivolous, the [Director](/usc/44/3502.md?p=4) shall, in coordination with the [agency](/usc/44/3502.md?p=1) responsible for the [collection of information](/usc/44/3502.md?p=3)—
  - (1) respond to the request within 60 days after receiving the request, unless such period is extended by the [Director](/usc/44/3502.md?p=4) to a specified date and the [person](/usc/44/3502.md?p=10) making the request is given notice of such extension; and
  - (2) take appropriate remedial action, if necessary.
