# §1722. Departmental distribution of publications


Government publications printed for or received by the executive departments, whether for official use or for distribution, except those required by [section 1701 of this title](/usc/44/1701.md) to be distributed by the Director of the Government Publishing Office, shall be distributed by a competent person detailed to this duty in each department by the head of the department. He shall prevent duplication and make detailed report to the head of the department.
