# §8912. Authorization of appropriations


For the expenses of carrying out the carbon dioxide study authorized by [section 8911 of this title](/usc/42/8911.md) (as determined by the Office of Science and Technology Policy) there are authorized to be appropriated such sums, not exceeding $3,000,000 in the aggregate, as may be necessary. At least 80 percent of any amounts appropriated pursuant to the preceding sentence shall be provided to the National Academy of Sciences.
