# §8285. Purpose


It is the purpose of this subchapter to encourage the training and certification of individuals to conduct [energy audits](/usc/42/8285a.md?p=3) for residential and commercial buildings in order to serve the various private and public needs of the Nation for [energy audits](/usc/42/8285a.md?p=3).
