# §7385j–1. Social Security earnings information


Notwithstanding the provision of [section 552a of title 5](/usc/5/552a.md) or any other provision of Federal or [State](/usc/42/2021b.md?p=14) law, the Social Security Administration shall make available to the [Secretary](/usc/42/7385s.md?p=3) of Labor, upon written request, the Social Security earnings information of living or deceased employees who may have sustained an illness that is the subject of a claim under this subchapter, which the [Secretary](/usc/42/7385s.md?p=3) of Labor may require to carry out the provisions of this subchapter.
