# §7381d. Definitions


In this subchapter:

- (1) The term “[Secretary](/usc/42/7372.md?p=1)” means the [Secretary](/usc/42/7372.md?p=1) of Energy.
- (2) The term “Department” means the Department of Energy.
- (3) The term “Department research and development facilities” means all [Department](#2) of Energy single-purpose and multipurpose [National Laboratories](#5) and research and development facilities and programs, and any other facility or program operated by a contractor funded by the [Department](#2) of Energy.
- (4) The term “local educational agency” has the meaning given that term by section 2891(12)[^1] of title 20.
- (5) **National laboratory.—** The term “National Laboratory” has the meaning given the term in [section 15801 of this title](/usc/42/15801.md).
