# §6991j. Use of funds for release prevention and compliance


Funds made available under [section 6991m(2)(D) of this title](/usc/42/6991m.md?p=2-D) from the [Trust Fund](/usc/42/6991.md?p=9) may be used to conduct inspections, issue orders, or bring actions under this subchapter—

- (1) by a [State](/usc/42/6903.md?p=31), in accordance with a grant or cooperative agreement with the [Administrator](/usc/42/6903.md?p=1), of[^1] [State](/usc/42/6903.md?p=31) regulations pertaining to [underground storage tanks](/usc/42/6991.md?p=10) regulated under this subchapter; and
- (2) by the [Administrator](/usc/42/6903.md?p=1), for tanks regulated under this subchapter (including under a [State](/usc/42/6903.md?p=31) program approved under [section 6991c of this title](/usc/42/6991c.md)).
