# §678. Rule of construction


Nothing in this part shall be construed as precluding [State](/usc/42/619.md?p=5) courts from exercising their discretion to protect the health and safety of children in individual cases, [including](/usc/42/1301.md?p=b) cases other than those described in [section 671(a)(15)(D) of this title](/usc/42/671.md?p=a-15-D).
