# §6703. Grants supplementing Federal contributions under other Federal laws; Federal share


In addition to the grants otherwise authorized by this chapter, the [Secretary](/usc/42/6701.md?p=1) is authorized to make a grant for the purpose of increasing the Federal contribution to a [public works project](/usc/42/6701.md?p=4) for which Federal financial assistance is authorized under provisions of law other than this chapter. Any grant made for a [public works project](/usc/42/6701.md?p=4) under this section shall be in such amount as may be necessary to make the Federal share of the cost of such [project](/usc/42/13641.md?p=2) 100 per centum. No grant shall be made for a [project](/usc/42/13641.md?p=2) under this section unless the Federal financial assistance for such [project](/usc/42/13641.md?p=2) authorized under provisions of law other than this chapter is immediately available for such [project](/usc/42/13641.md?p=2) and [construction](/usc/42/300s–3.md?p=7) of such [project](/usc/42/13641.md?p=2) has not yet been initiated because of lack of funding for the non-Federal share.
