# §3232. Authorization of appropriations for defense conversion activities

- (a) **In general—** In addition to amounts made available under [section 3231 of this title](/usc/42/3231.md), there are authorized to be appropriated such sums as are necessary to carry out [section 3149(c)(1) of this title](/usc/42/3149.md?p=c-1), to remain available until expended.
- (b) **Pilot projects—** Funds made available under [subsection (a)](#a) may be used for activities including pilot [projects](/usc/42/13641.md?p=2) for [privatization](/usc/42/2297h.md?p=8) of, and economic development activities for, closed or realigned military or [Department](/usc/42/3122.md?p=4) of Energy installations.
