# §3058e. Demonstration projects

- (a) **Establishment—** From amounts made available under [section 3024(d)(1)(C) of this title](/usc/42/3024.md?p=d-1-C) after September 30, 1992, each [State](/usc/42/3002.md?p=51) may provide for the establishment of at least one demonstration [project](/usc/42/13641.md?p=2), to be conducted by one or more area [agencies](/usc/42/8262.md?p=1) on aging within the [State](/usc/42/3002.md?p=51), for outreach to [older individuals](/usc/42/3002.md?p=40) with [greatest economic need](/usc/42/3002.md?p=23) with respect to—
  - (1) benefits available under title XVI of the Social Security Act ([42 U.S.C. 1381](/usc/42/1381.md) et seq.) (or assistance under a [State](/usc/42/3002.md?p=51) [program](/usc/42/3056p.md?p=a-7) established in accordance with such title);
  - (2) medical assistance available under title XIX of such Act ([42 U.S.C. 1396](/usc/42/1396.md) et seq.); and
  - (3) benefits available under the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 ([7 U.S.C. 2011](/usc/7/2011.md) et seq.).
- (b) **Benefits—** Each outreach [project](/usc/42/13641.md?p=2) carried out under [subsection (a)](#a) shall—
  - (1) provide to [older individuals](/usc/42/3002.md?p=40) with [greatest economic need](/usc/42/3002.md?p=23) information and assistance regarding their eligibility to receive the benefits and assistance described in paragraphs [(1)](#a-1) through [(3)](#a-3) of subsection (a);
  - (2) be carried out in a [planning and service area](/usc/42/3002.md?p=43) that has a high proportion of [older individuals](/usc/42/3002.md?p=40) with [greatest economic need](/usc/42/3002.md?p=23), relative to the aggregate number of [older individuals](/usc/42/3002.md?p=40) in such area; and
  - (3) be coordinated with [State](/usc/42/3002.md?p=51) and local entities that administer benefits under such titles.

A prior section 706 of Pub. L. 89–73 was classified to section 3045e of this title prior to repeal by Pub. L. 95–478.

### Amendments

2008—Subsec. (a)(3). Pub. L. 110–246, § 4002(b)(1)(B), (2)(BB), substituted “Food and Nutrition Act of 2008” for “Food Stamp Act of 1977”.
