# §3056n. Sense of Congress


It is the sense of Congress that—

- (1) the older American [community service employment](/usc/42/3056p.md?p=a-2) [program](/usc/42/3056p.md?p=a-7) described in this subchapter was established with the intent of placing [older individuals](/usc/42/3002.md?p=40) in [community service](/usc/42/3056p.md?p=a-1) positions and providing job training; and
- (2) placing [older individuals](/usc/42/3002.md?p=40) in [community service](/usc/42/3056p.md?p=a-1) positions strengthens the ability of the individuals to become self-sufficient, provides much-needed support to organizations that benefit from increased [civic engagement](/usc/42/3002.md?p=12), and strengthens the communities that are served by such organizations.
