# §3056e. Equitable distribution

- (a) **Interstate allocation—** In making grants under [section 3056(b) of this title](/usc/42/3056.md?p=b) from allotments made under [section 3056d of this title](/usc/42/3056d.md), the [Secretary](/usc/42/3002.md?p=46) shall ensure, to the extent feasible, an equitable distribution of activities under such grants, in the aggregate, among the [States](/usc/42/3002.md?p=51), taking into account the needs of underserved [States](/usc/42/3002.md?p=51).
- (b) **Intrastate allocation—** The amount allocated for [projects](/usc/42/13641.md?p=2) within each [State](/usc/42/3002.md?p=51) under [section 3056d of this title](/usc/42/3056d.md) shall be allocated among areas in the [State](/usc/42/3002.md?p=51) in an equitable manner, taking into consideration the [State](/usc/42/3002.md?p=51) priorities set out in the [State](/usc/42/3002.md?p=51) plan in effect under [section 3056a(a) of this title](/usc/42/3056a.md?p=a).
