# §300z–2. Demonstration projects; grant authorization, etc.

- (a) The [Secretary](/usc/42/201.md?p=c) may make grants to further the purposes of this subchapter to [eligible grant recipients](/usc/42/300z–1.md?p=a-3) which have submitted an application which the [Secretary](/usc/42/201.md?p=c) finds meets the requirements of [section 300z–5 of this title](/usc/42/300z–5.md) for demonstration [projects](/usc/42/13641.md?p=2) which the [Secretary](/usc/42/201.md?p=c) determines will help communities provide appropriate care and [prevention services](/usc/42/300z–1.md?p=a-8) in easily accessible locations. Demonstration [projects](/usc/42/13641.md?p=2) shall, as appropriate, provide, supplement, or improve the quality of such [services](/usc/42/201.md?p=a). Demonstration [projects](/usc/42/13641.md?p=2) shall use such methods as will strengthen the capacity of families to deal with the sexual behavior, pregnancy, or parenthood of [adolescents](/usc/42/300z–1.md?p=a-9) and to make use of support systems such as other [family members](/usc/42/300gg–91.md?p=d-15), friends, religious and charitable organizations, and voluntary associations.
- (b) Grants under this subchapter for demonstration [projects](/usc/42/13641.md?p=2) may be for the provision of—
  - (1) [care services](/usc/42/300z–1.md?p=a-7);
  - (2) [prevention services](/usc/42/300z–1.md?p=a-8); or
  - (3) a combination of [care services](/usc/42/300z–1.md?p=a-7) and [prevention services](/usc/42/300z–1.md?p=a-8).
