# §300e–14a. Health services for Indians and domestic agricultural migratory and seasonal workers


The [Secretary](/usc/42/201.md?p=c) of Health and Human [Services](/usc/42/201.md?p=a), in connection with existing authority (except [section 254b](/usc/42/254b.md)[^1] of this title) for the provisions of health [services](/usc/42/201.md?p=a) to domestic agricultural migratory workers, to persons who perform seasonal agricultural [services](/usc/42/201.md?p=a) similar to the [services](/usc/42/201.md?p=a) performed by such workers, and to the families of such workers and persons, is authorized to arrange for the provision of health [services](/usc/42/201.md?p=a) to such workers and persons and their families through [health maintenance organizations](/usc/42/300gg–91.md?p=b-3). In carrying out this section the [Secretary](/usc/42/201.md?p=c) may only use sums appropriated after December 29, 1973.

Section 254b of this title, referred to in text, was in the original a reference to section 329 of the Public Health Service Act, act July 1, 1944, which was omitted in the general amendment of subpart I (§ 254b et seq.) of part D of subchapter II of this chapter by Pub. L. 104–299, § 2, Oct. 11, 1996, 110 Stat. 3626. Section 2 of Pub. L. 104–299 enacted a new section 330 of act July 1, 1944, which is classified to section 254b of this title.

### Codification

Section was enacted as part of the Health Maintenance Organization Act of 1973, and not as part of the Public Health Service Act which comprises this chapter.

### Amendments

1978—Pub. L. 95–626 substituted “section 254b” for “section 247d”.
