# §291j–8. Authorization of appropriations


In order to assist in the provision of adequate emergency room [service](/usc/42/201.md?p=a) in various communities of the Nation for [treatment](/usc/42/11851.md?p=11) of accident victims and handling of other medical emergencies through special [project](/usc/42/13641.md?p=2) grants for the [construction](/usc/42/300s–3.md?p=7) or [modernization](/usc/42/300s–3.md?p=9) of emergency rooms of general [hospitals](/usc/42/300s–3.md?p=1), there are authorized to be appropriated $20,000,000 each for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1971, and the next two fiscal years.
