# §285g–10. Investment in tomorrow’s pediatric researchers


In order to ensure the future supply of researchers dedicated to the care and research needs of children, the [Director](/usc/42/11851.md?p=5) of the Institute, after consultation with the [Administrator](/usc/42/4005.md?p=1) of the Health Resources and [Services](/usc/42/201.md?p=a) Administration, shall support activities to provide for—

- (1) an increase in the number and size of institutional training grants to institutions supporting pediatric training; and
- (2) an increase in the number of career development awards for health professionals who intend to build careers in pediatric basic and [clinical research](/usc/42/284d.md?p=b), including pediatric pharmacological research.
