# §247b–3a. Training and reports by the Health Resources and Services Administration

- (a) **Training—** The [Secretary](/usc/42/201.md?p=c) of Health and Human [Services](/usc/42/201.md?p=a), acting through the [Administrator](/usc/42/4005.md?p=1) of the Health Resources and [Services](/usc/42/201.md?p=a) Administration and in collaboration with the [Administrator](/usc/42/4005.md?p=1) of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid [Services](/usc/42/201.md?p=a) and the [Director](/usc/42/11851.md?p=5) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, shall conduct education and training [programs](/usc/42/274l–1.md?p=4) for physicians and other [health care providers](/usc/42/300aa–33.md?p=1) regarding childhood lead poisoning, current screening and [treatment](/usc/42/11851.md?p=11) recommendations and requirements, and the scientific, medical, and public health basis for those policies.
- (b) **Report—** The [Secretary](/usc/42/201.md?p=c) of Health and Human [Services](/usc/42/201.md?p=a), acting through the [Administrator](/usc/42/4005.md?p=1) of the Health Resources and [Services](/usc/42/201.md?p=a) Administration, annually shall report to Congress on the number of children who received [services](/usc/42/201.md?p=a) through health centers established under [section 254b of this title](/usc/42/254b.md) and received a blood lead screening test during the prior fiscal year, noting the percentage that such children represent as compared to all children who received [services](/usc/42/201.md?p=a) through such health centers.
- (c) **Authorization of appropriations—** There are authorized to be appropriated to carry out this section such sums as may be necessary for each[^1] the fiscal years 2001 through 2005.
