# §2346. Occupancy by existing tenants


Upon application by any [occupant](/usc/42/2304.md?p=g) of a [single](/usc/42/2304.md?p=m) or duplex [house](/usc/42/2304.md?p=c) made within the period of the first priority when such [house](/usc/42/2304.md?p=c) is first offered for sale under this chapter, the [Commission](/usc/42/2304.md?p=a) shall execute a lease to such [occupant](/usc/42/2304.md?p=g) for a period not to exceed one year from the date on which such property is first offered for sale, or for such period as he remains a [project-connected person](/usc/42/2304.md?p=j), whichever is shorter. In selling any [house](/usc/42/2304.md?p=c) with respect to which a lease executed under this section is in effect, the [Commission](/usc/42/2304.md?p=a) may provide that the purchaser shall assume any or all obligations of the lessor, but the [Commission](/usc/42/2304.md?p=a) shall guarantee the lessee’s performance under the terms of the lease.
