# §2296b. Overfeed program

- (a) **Uranium purchases—** To the maximum extent permitted by sound business practice, the [Corporation](/usc/42/2296b–7.md?p=1) shall purchase uranium in accordance with [subsection (b)](#b) and [overfeed](/usc/42/2296b–7.md?p=6) it into the enrichment process to reduce the amount of power required to [produce](/usc/42/2014.md?p=u) the enriched uranium ordered by enrichment services [customers](/usc/42/7275.md?p=5), taking into account costs associated with depleted tailings.
- (b) **Use of domestic uranium—** Uranium purchased by the [Corporation](/usc/42/2296b–7.md?p=1) for purposes of this section shall be of [domestic origin](/usc/42/2296b–7.md?p=3) and purchased from [domestic uranium producers](/usc/42/2296b–7.md?p=4) to the extent permitted under the multilateral trade agreements (as defined in [section 3501(4) of title 19](/usc/19/3501.md?p=4)) and the USMCA (as defined in [section 4502 of title 19](/usc/19/4502.md)).
